about the library |
We have over 3000 titles that you won’t find anywhere else in the city – books, DVDs, and more. From the ribald to the risque, we’ve got everything your inner bookworm could possibly desire. We also have a selection of valuable documentaries on notable figures in queer history, a wide range of archive material showcasing society’s changing thoughts on queer culture, a collection of children’s books, and many other great resources. Our library is proudly 100% volunteer-run and operated.
Our new space began the circulation of materials in August 2017, prior to that we were located at 10 Carden Street. In the past year(s) we have expanded hours of operation and have hundreds more resources available.
Currently Out On The Shelf membership is available for $10 per year which includes library membership and voting privileges at our Annual General Meeting. To sign up for a membership you must be at least 13 years of age. All you need to do is bring in either a valid driver’s license or a piece of mail with your name and address on it (e.g. a bill from a phone company, etc.).
We have dozens of current and informative pamphlets and take-away literature on everything from safe sex to queer parenting and mental health.
